Spy-ware.
Spyware is software that companies
build to get marketing information from you. Spy-ware
can be installed on your Computer from installing software
from the internet, browsing the internet, or even come with
your Computer. Spy-ware runs all the
time on your Computer and most of the time its effects are
noticeable, but people assume their Computer is just acting
up, what it's really doing is sending your surfing habits to
companies, giving you a whole bunch of junk mail, and invading
your privacy.
Since Spy-ware is always running on
your Computer, it’s taking up vital memory and processing
power, which in turn slows down your Computer. Spy-ware
is also very dangerous, if someone online has captured the
information that your Computer is sending out, anyone can get
your bank account numbers (if you do online banking with Spy-ware
installed on your Computer), anyone can get your address and
send you junk mail to your house as well as your E-mail.

- If Spy-ware and Internet security
is an issue for you, there are some things you can do to
prevent these problems. First is to go to
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ and
download Firefox. Firefox is just like Internet Explorer, they
both allow you to browse the Internet and check your E-mail as
well as thousands of other things you can use the Internet
for. What Firefox does that Internet Explorer doesn't, is it
is much more secure. It will reduce the chances of Spy-ware
and Ad-ware as well as reduce your
systems probability of getting a virus or being attacked by a
hacker. The second thing you can do is make sure that when you
install programs you read the fine print. If you read
everything when installing programs it will give you an option
to install "extra software" which will apparently help make
your program better, ALWAYS CHOSE NO! This software that's
claiming to be so beneficial is actually sending your
information out all over the internet to marketing companies,
